- Publicationประโยชน์นิยมในพิธีกรรมแซนโฎนตาของกลุ่มชาติพันธุ์กูยปรีชา บุตรรัตน์; Preecha Butrat (2017)This study employed qualitative method. Its objectives were to study the utilitarianism of John Stuart Mill (1806-1873), to study Kui’s SaenTonta Rituals, and to analyze the utilitarianism in Kui’s SaenTonta Rituals. Related theories and research were reviewed. Also, Structured Interviews were conducted to collect field data by interviewing 20 samples in Tael Village. Tael Sub-district, Sikhoraphum District, Surin Province. The results have revealed that the utilitarianism of John Stuart Mill tried to propose that proper actions are the actions which provide the greatest happiness for the greatest people. The happiness of people is intangible, and it is only one desirable thing. Motivation is not connected with the actions because it cannot be concretely measured value of actions. Kui's SaenTonta Rituals are annually performed in the 10th lunar month for two days. On the first day, the rituals are prepared and performed at parents’ house. On the second day, the rituals are performed at the shrine of the ancestor and the temple in the village to sacrifice merit for the ancestor. Kui's SaenTonta Rituals are consistent with the utilitarianism of John Stuart Mill, i.e., actions providing the greatest happiness for the greatest people. The rituals are the actions of people group, not the actions of one person. Doctrine in the rituals emphasizes common interest in terms of Irving together in society. There are both internal and external factors generating actions or rituals. Identical understanding with common interest integration can lead to social bond and social foundation, eventually.
