| dc.description.abstract | จุดมุ่งหมายของวิทยานิพนธ์นี้คือ ศึกษาการใช้เสียงพยัญชนะท้ายเสียดแทรก-ปุ่มเหงือกในคำยืมภาษาอังกฤษของกลุ่มข้าราชการกองทัพเรือไทยที่สำเร็จการศึกษาไม่ต่ำกว่าปริญญาตรี เพื่อดูว่าการใช้เสียงดังกล่าวมีการแปรอย่างไร ตามตัวแปร อายุ เพศ และการไปต่างประเทศ ผลการวิเคราะห์แสดงว่าเสียงพยัญชนะท้ายที่ข้าราชการกองทัพเรือไทยใช้ในการออกเสียงพยัญชนะท้ายของคำยืมที่มาจากคำภาษาอังกฤษที่ลงท้ายด้วยเสียงเสียดแทรก-ปุ่มเหงือกมากที่สุดคือ เสียงพยัญชนะท้าย เสียดแทรก-ปุ่มเหงือก อโฆษะ (S) ที่ใช้มากรองลงมาคือเสียงกักที่เกิดบริเวณฐานฟัน-ปุ่มเหงือก อโฆษะในภาษาไทยได้แก่ เสียง (t) อย่างไรก็ตาม จำนวนความถี่ในการปรากฏของเสียงพยัญชนะท้าย (S) ที่ใช้โดยข้าราชการกองทัพเรือนี้ก็ยังมากกว่าเสียง (t) สองเท่าตัว และปัจจัยทางสังคมที่มีความสัมพันธ์กับการใช้เสียงพยัญชนะท้าย (S) อย่างเห็นได้ชัดที่สุดคือการไปต่างประเทศ การวิจัยนี้แสดงให้เห็นแนวโน้มว่าเสียงพยัญชนะท้ายเสียดแทรก-ปุ่มเหงือก อโฆษะ (S) ซึ่งแต่เดิมใช้เป็นเพียงพยัญชนะต้นในภาษาไทยเท่านั้น กำลังมีหน้าที่เพิ่มขึ้นคือใช้เป็นเสียงพยัญชนะท้ายคำในภาษาไทย งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้จึงเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของการศึกษาการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่กำลังดำเนินอยู่ของหน้าที่ของเสียงพยัญชนะในภาษาไทย เสียงพยัญชนะอื่น ๆที่อาจอยู่ในระหว่างการเปลี่ยนแปลงยังมีอีก ซึ่งวิทยานิพนธ์ได้เสนอแนะไว้ในตอนท้าย | |
| dc.description.abstract | The main purpose of this study is to investigate variation in Thai Navy officers’ pronunciation of final alveolar fricatives in English loanwords. The social variables that are expected to play an important role in the variation are the speakers’ sex, age and experience abroad. The prestigious variant that appears in the finding is the voiceless alveolar fricative (S). It is used twice as much as the voiceless alveolar stop (t). The prominent social variable that plays an important role in this variation is the speakers’ experience abroad. This study shows that the Thai voiceless alveolar fricative (S), which normally occur in the initial position, is developing another function; that is, being used as a final consonant in Thai. This thesis is the beginning of a study of change in progress of consonants in Thai. There are other Thai consonants which may be in the process of change in progress. They were suggested in the last chapter of this thesis. | en |
