วิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้ มีจุดมุ่งหมายที่จะศึกษาการใช้คำ “ก็” ในฐานะที่เป็นคำชนิดต่าง ๆ โดยศึกษาตำแหน่ง หน้าที่ และความหมายของคำ “ก็” เมื่อทำหน้าที่ต่าง ๆ ข้อมูลที่นำมาศึกษาเก็บรวบรวมจากภาษาพูดที่ใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันถิ่นกรุงเทพฯ ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ดังนี้ ประการแรก คำ “ก็” เป็นคำคำเดียว แต่มีหลายหน้าที่ คือทำหน้าที่เป็นคำเชื่อมชนิดต่าง ๆ ได้ 3 ชนิด ได้แก่ ทำหน้าที่เชื่อมคำ เชื่อมกลุ่มคำ เชื่อมอนุพากย์ และเชื่อมต้นประโยคเชื่อม (ประเภทประโยคไม่เริ่ม) ตำแหน่งของคำ “ก็” จะอยู่ระหว่างสิ่งที่ถูกเชื่อม ซึ่งมักจะเป็นหน่วยชนิดเดียวกัน (ได้แก่ เชื่อมระหว่างคำ ระหว่างกลุ่มคำ ระหว่างอนุพากย์ และระหว่างประโยค) นอกจากจะเป็นคำชนิดเดียวกัน เชื่อมกลุ่มคำก็มักจะมีองค์ประกอบอย่างเดียวกัน เชื่อมอนุพากย์ในประโยคผสม ก็มักจะเป็นอนุพากย์ชนิดเดียวกัน ส่วนกรณีที่เชื่อมหน่วยชนิดเดียวกันแต่ต่างชนิดกัน เท่าที่พบจากข้อมูลมีที่ใช้น้อยกว่า ประการที่สอง เมื่อคำ “ก็” ทำหน้าที่เป็นคำเชื่อม จะช่วยเน้นความหมายหรือช่วยแสดงความหมายของคำ กลุ่มคำ อนุพากย์ และประโยคที่ “ก็” ปรากฏเป็นคำเชื่อมอยู่ กล่าวคือเมื่อทำหน้าที่เชื่อมคำหรือกลุ่มคำ จะช่วยเน้นหรือช่วยแสดงความหมายได้เป็น 2 กรณี กรณีแรกจะช่วยเน้นความหมายของคำหรือกลุ่มคำที่ “ก็” เชื่อม ซึ่งเป็นความหมายที่ได้จากปริบทที่มาประกอบ กรณีที่สองจะแสดงความหมายของคำ หรือกลุ่มคำที่ “ก็” เชื่อมในลักษณะต่าง ๆ กันโดยไม่ต้องอาศัยปริบทมาประกอบ เมื่อทำหน้าที่เชื่อมอนุพากย์ จะเน้นความหมายของอนุพากย์ที่ “ก็” ปรากฏอยู่ และเมื่อทำหน้าที่เชื่อมต้นประโยค จะเน้นความหมายของประโยคที่ “ก็” ปรากฏอยู่ทั้งประโยค การวิจัยได้แบ่งเสนอเป็น 5 บท คือ บทที่ 1 เป็นบทนำ กล่าวถึงความเป็นมาของปัญหา ความมุ่งหมาย และขอบเขตของการวิจัย บทที่ 2 กล่าวถึงคำ “ก็” ที่ใช้เชื่อมคำและกลุ่มคำ บทที่ 3 กล่าวถึงคำ “ก็” ที่ใช้เป็นคำเชื่อมอนุพากย์ บทที่ 4 กล่าวถึงคำ “ก็” ที่ใช้เป็นคำเชื่อมต้นประโยคเชื่อม ประเภทประโยคไม่เริ่ม และบทที่ 5 เป็นการสรุปผลการวิจัยและเสนอแนะประเด็นที่น่าสนใจ ซึ่งยังมิได้เสนอไว้ในวิทยานิพนธ์เล่มนี้ เพื่อให้ผู้สนใจได้ค้นคว้าต่อไป
The purpose of this thesis is to study the uses of the world “Ko^:” in regards to its positions, grammatical, function and meaning. The data were samples of spoken Bangkok dialect. The results of this research are as follows. First, the word “Ko^:” is a single word with various functions. It can function as word linker, word-group linker, clause linker, and a sentence linker. The position of the word “Ko^:” is between the elements that it links. These units are usually of the same type (i.c word and word; group of word and group of word; clause and clause; and sentence and sentence.) These elements are usually similar. The linked words generally belong also the same word [class]. The linked groups of words consist of the same set of components. The linked clauses are of the same type. It is very rare for “Ko^:” to link elements which are not [similar]. Second, “Ko^:” serves a semantic function of placing emphasis on the elements being linked. When it links word or groups of words the emphasis is placed in two different manners. First it will emphasis the meaning of word or group of word which are the meaning from the context of situation. Second it will reveal the meaning of word or group of word in various manners. When “Ko^:” links a clause or a sentence, the emphasis will be placed only on the clause or sentence in which “Ko^:” in contained. The study consists of 5 chapters. Chapter 1 is an introduction. Chapter 2 deals with “Ko^:” as a linker of words or group of words. Chapter 3 deals with “Ko^:” as a linker of clauses. Chapter 4 deals with “Ko^:” as a linker of sentences. Chapter 5 is a conclusion and suggestion.
