ภาษาเป็นเครื่องมือสำคัญที่มนุษย์ใช้ในการสื่อสาร สื่อความหมาย การเรียนภาษาต่างประเทศใดๆ ก็ตาม ล้วนมีจุดมุ่งหมายเดียวกันคือ สามารถประยุกต์ใช้ภาษาต่างประเทศนั้นในการติดต่อสื่อสารเพื่อให้เกิดความเข้าใจที่ตรงกัน ในด้านการสอนก็เช่นกัน ล้วนมีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อให้ผู้เรียนสามารถเรียนรู้ภาษา และสามารถสื่อสาร สื่อความหมายกับเจ้าของภาษาได้อย่างถูกต้อง ในช่วงปลายยุคศตวรรษที่ 20 ได้เกิดแนวคิดการสอนที่เน้นภาระงาน เป็นแนวคิดการสอนภาษาเพื่อการสื่อสารที่ได้รับความนิยมเป็นอย่างมาก โดยมีหลักการและกระบวนการจัดการเรียนการสอนที่เน้นให้ผู้เรียนฝึกการเรียนรู้ภาษาผ่าน “ภาระงานหรืองานปฏิบัติ” หรือเรียกว่า “การเรียนภาษาจากการปฏิบัติจริง” โดยมีการจัดการเรียนการสอนที่เน้นผู้เรียนเป็นหลัก การสอนภาษาจีนเป็นภาษาต่างประเทศได้รับอิทธิพลการสอนภาษาที่เน้นภาระงาน (Task based Learning) ตั้งแต่ช่วงยุคต้นศตวรรษที่ 21 เป็นต้นมา ถึงแม้จะไม่ได้รับความนิยมมากนักเมื่อเทียบกับการสอนภาษาอังกฤษด้วยภาระงาน แต่ก็มีนักวิชาการชาวจีนจำนวนไม่น้อยที่ทำการศึกษาค้นคว้าและวิจัยเกี่ยวกับการสอนภาษาจีนด้วยภาระงาน อันเป็นประโยชน์ต่อวงการการสอนภาษาจีนเป็นภาษาต่างประเทศเป็นอย่างมาก ซึ่งจะเป็นแนวทางสำหรับผู้สอนภาษาจีนในอนาคตต่อไป
Language is a tool for human’s communication. Language learning was aimed to apply those languages to communicate on the same propose. In other words, language teaching was also aimed to help learners learn languages and be able to communicate with native speakers with accuracy. In the twentieth century, Task-based learning was introduced, which was well-known for language teaching. Its principles and instructions focused on learners used language through “tasks”, in other words, “learning language by doing”. The instruction also focused on learner-centered. Chinese instruction was a foreign language instruction that was also impacted from task- based learning since early twenty-first century. Although task-based learning was less popular in Chinese instruction than English instruction, many Chinese linguists studied and researched about teaching Chinese with task-based learning. It would be valuable for teaching Chinese as a foreign language and also be an idea for Chinese instructors in future.
