Abstract
The purposes of this research were (1) to explore the satisfaction in studying Japanese regarding five aspects: core curriculum; teaching and learning process; evaluation methods; teaching aids and media; and lecturers, (2) to compare the levels of satisfaction in studying Japanese using the following variables sex, (3) to investigate opinions and suggestions about the teaching and learning process of the classes. The population used in the research was 25 undergraduate students of The Far Eastern University who enrolled in Japanese classes. The data was collected using questionnaire and was later analyzed using three statistical methods which were frequency, mean, and standard deviation. The result showed that the overall level of satisfaction in studying Japanese of the students was at very satisfied (Mean = 4.31). Regarding each aspect, the lecturers received the highest mean, at 4.52, with the core curriculum; evaluation methods; teaching aids and media; and teaching and learning process following respectively (Mean = 4.39, 4.36, 4.15 and 4.14). Moreover, the levels of satisfaction in studying Japanese, both overall and in each aspect, of male and female students were not different. On the other hand, students from different majors showed different levels of satisfaction, both overall and in each aspect. As for opinions and suggestions, the students were very satisfied overall and suggested that more time should be added to the Japanese classes.
