Abstract
The extended usage of Chinese compound directional complement is the most important and difficult point in second language teaching. There are many extended meanings of Chinese compound directional complements, and it is more difficult for Chinese learners to understand and distinguish. There are five positional relationships between compound directional complements and objects. These five positional relationships are also a difficult problem for Chinese learners to acquire this language point. The number of Chinese learners in Thailand is increasing day by day, but the learning problem of the extended usage of Chinese compound trend complement has not been overcome. Based on my own teaching experience, the author used questionnaires to study the acquisition of the extended usage of compound trend complements by sophomores of Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture of Huachiew Chalermprakiet University in Thailand (Grade 2019). This paper finds out the Chinese-Thai the differences and similarities in the extended usage of five compound directional complements such as "get up", "come down", "go down", "come out" and "come over". Based on the questionnaire survey, this article summarizes the types of learning errors and the reasons for the errors of the students in this grade. Finally, based on the problems found in the questionnaire survey, specific teaching suggestions are put forward in terms of the comparison of extended meanings and the order of acquisition.
