Abstract
The objectives of this Dissertation were as follows
1) To study the rehabilitation activities in temples that act as addict relief and rehabilitation centers 2) To study the principle of Ayuvaddhanadhamma in Theravada Philosophy 3) To integrate Dharma of age into addict relief and rehabilitation center activities in temples and 4) To purpose guidelines and new body of knowledge in Ayuvaddhanadhamma integrating into addict relief and rehabilitation center activities in temples. This Dissertation is a Mixed Method Research combining experimental research (Quasi Experimental One Group pre test-post test Design) and qualitative research. The studies were done in three addict relief and rehabilitation temple centers that are Wat Takaipluang center (Burirum), Wat Sapan center (Bangkok), Nun Practical Dharma center at Khow pra (Supanburi). The data were gathered using participant observation with 83 peoples from these centers. The information from the data was used to produce new activities that would include Ayuvaddhanadhamma into the rehabilitation activities. These activities were introduced into 73 participants from the centers. The data then were collected before and after the activities using Thai version WHO quality of life questionnaires. Post activity interviews had also been done in focus group discussion. The key important persons in the focus group were of 20 peoples including addicts that joined the Ayuvaddhanadhamma rehabilitation activities, activity administrators, and specialists. The data were analysed and interpreted using statistic program. Statistic using in this sudy included basic statistic percentage, mean, and standard deviation, ttest, and descriptive statistic. The results showed that:- 1) Activities for addict relief and rehabilitation organized by the temple centers previously applied the Buddhist basic dhamma principles such as the five precepts, the five Dhamma, the four sublime states of mind as well as other Buddhist ceremonies. All Dhammas were applies to activities such as physical exercise, drying herb, agricultural training and crafting. In any temple centers used different activities dependent upon their decision without standard program for rehabilitation of the addicts. 2) The Ayuvaddhanadhamma in Theravada Philosophy is the dharma that compliments a long and healthy life, consisting of 1. Sappàyakàrã (to do what is suitable for oneself and favorable to one_x005F_x008b_s) 2. Sappàye matta¤¤å (to be moderate even as to things suitable and favourable) 3. Pariõatabhojã (to eat food which is ripe and easy to digest) 4. Sãlavà (to be morally upright) and 5. Kalyàõamitta (to have good friends). 3) After integrating Dharma of age into addict relief and rehabilitation temple center activities the researcher found that the activities that based on the Ayuvaddhanadhamma principle received mean score in very good level totally. When considered in each activity the results showed that the activity that got the highest score was the Relaxing activity (based on Sappàyakàrã), then the Healthy food activity (based on Pariõatabhojã), the good person activity (based on Sãlavà) respectively. Finally the moderate activity (based on Sappàye matta¤¤å) and True friend activity (based on Kalyàõamitta) got the same lowest score. When the average mean score for all categories in quality of life of the addicts before and after joining the activity was statistically significant at 0.05 comparatively. 4) New body knowledge in integrating the Ayuvaddhanadhamma into addict relief and rehabilitation center activities can be used to generate the RFMMF-QL model. This model integrates the Ayuvaddhanadhamma and rehabilitation activity. It can be used as a tool to improve quality of life of addict who join the addict relief and rehabilitation center of the temple.
