วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ศึึกษาเกี่ยวกับการใช้ความเชื่อแบบพุทธไทยในการต่อต้านคอมมิวนิสต์ระหว่าง พ.ศ. 2508-2519
The purpose of this research were to analyze the artistic relations between the elephant based stupa at Wat Maheyong, located in Ayutthaya province, and the Hasti Prakara stupa found in Sri Lanka, in term of concept and iconography. This study also include the examinate of these stupas with other similar elephant based stupas found in Ayutthaya ‘s neighboring states like Bagan, Nakhon Sri Dhammaraj, and especially, Sukhothai, which most of the scholars believe that it gave the artistic influences to the Ayutthaya’s one The methodology of this research began with gathering data and pictures of all major elephant based stupas from the prior works, archaeological report, and the field work observation. By conceptual comprehensive comparing part by past of the elements of the elephant based stupas, the analyze of the artistic comparison will be used to prove the religious relationship between Ayutthaya and Sri Lanka and others neighborhood though the historical document evident. The results of this research were as follow : 1. Ayutthaya’s Maheyong elephant based stupa has the most similarity to the Sri Lankan Hasthi Prakara stupas, in term of concepts and cosmos iconography for the big bulky round shape “Anda” and the low and widing Pradakshina platform surrounded elephants was with four side entrances. 2. Even some characters of the Ayutthaua’s Maheyong elephant based stupa were not found in the major Sri Lankan Hasthi Prakara stupas but it still try to keep the concept of Sri Lankan art to magnified the Lankan concept originate of this stupa, include the 20 meditating Buddha statues in the round plan image houses in the base of stupa, and the locally modified Lankan type gable of its elephant niche in the elephant wall. 3. All the historical document include many Sukhothai’s stone inscription, Lanna’s Jinakala Malipakarana and Wat Pa Daeng’s Mula Sasana document, and Ayutthaya’s book of Saddhamma Sangaha were proved the apex of the religious relationship between Ayutthaya and Sri Lankan in the 13th – 14th century, when the Maheyoung elephant based stupa was built.
