Abstract
The purpose of this research was to study the implementation and the requirements of informal labor’s health information for primary care in southern border provinces of Thailand. The data of this qualitative research were collected from in-depth interviews and were analyzed using the content analysis method. The designated research areas are Pattani; Yala and Narathiwat respectively. The target groups; therefore; were selected from the primary care units; namely sub-district health promotion and hospital units. The results showed that the assigned primary care units provide both health care services and systematical management with primary responsibility for treatment services and secondary for health promotion and disease prevention. They provide informal workers with health care services which are similar to the general public. The data on patients; health insurance information; symptoms; diagnosis; guidance of treatment; chronic disease records; medication history and health care visit records were collected from village health volunteers; local villagers; community leaders and a religious leader. The difficulties of usage are lack of completeness; information overlap; lack of system development; and lack of a capable workforce in each health care unit. The research indicated that there was adequate information in all health care units. However; information implementation is still in need of other contributions; such as working system; reporting; and human resources in the information technology system.
