本文以泰国清莱皇太后大学汉学院的云南籍华裔大学生为研究对象,通过问卷调查和访谈方式,初步探讨泰国北部云南籍华裔的从中小学到大学期间的华语学习动机。调查结果显示,云南籍华裔学生在中小学学习华语时,情感价值的动机占优势,上大学后转成工具性价值的动机。通过访谈发现,工具性价值的动机与其他地区的华裔不完全相同,因为他们工具性价值一部分来自在泰国社会的身份认同问题。为了自己在泰国的生存,他们必须继续学习华语,加强自己的优势。访谈结果还显示,新一代的学生对中国大陆教育的接受程度愈来愈高。另外,他们因为在中小学只接触到台湾的教育,所以在大学也想继续从汉语普通话及中国各方面进行深造,从而深入了解中国大陆,以后可以为就业提供更多的选择。此结论给予泰北云南华校发展十分重要的启示。
This paper aims to discuss on Northern-Thailand Yunnanese descendants' motivation for learning Chinese in primary, secondary schools and in the university. The students who are Yunnanese descendants in the School of Sinology, Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai Province were chosen as research subjects to respond to questionnaires and interviews. The investigation results reveal that Yunnanese descendants chose to study Chinese in primary and secondary schools with sentimental values. In the university, however, the motivations have altered from sentimental to instrumental values. The results from the interview reveal that, the instrumental value of Yunnanese descendants is quite different from Chinese descendants in other parts of Thailand, it originated from a problem in their social identity in Thai society. They need to continue studying Chinese and enhance their strength in Chinese ability to survive in Thailand. The result form the interviews indicates that, an acceptance level of Education in Mainland China of the new-generation Yunnanese students is higher than the past. Furthermore, since they only have experience of the Taiwanese education in primary and secondary schools, they would like to continue studying Mandarin Chinese and learn about China to gain a deeper understanding about Mainland China. Therefore, they can have various choices in their career path. The result has a significant meaning to the development of Chinese schools in Yunnanese villages in Northern Thailand.
