Abstract
The research objectives were 1) to study how to develop the youths in the Thai society, 2) to study the seven principles o f Sappusisadhamma in Theravada Buddhism, and 3) to study the application of the Seven Principles of Sappusisadhamma in TheravadaBuddhism to the development of Thai Youths. The research is included in the documentarycategory, with the information in use being collected from various sources such as the Buddhist Tipitaka. The findings could be reported as follows Psychologically, physical, verbal and mental actions are collectively called behaviors. They are expressed in response to external stimuli, with the objectives and needs as underlying motives. The youth development process which was based on the Seven Principles of Sappurisadhamma in Theravada Buddhism, and supported by the Three Steps of Training or Tisikkhas, namely, Sila (Precept), Samadhi (Meditation) and Panna (Wisdom), could control and develop the Thai youths' behaviors to the criteria or norms desirable by the society. The Seven Principles of Sappurisadhamma in Theravada Buddhism are the virtues or qualificaties of a 'Sappurisa', a good or wise person, or in other words, the virtues applicable to training and developing a person to be a good or wise one. Analytically, the training or developing of the youths in the Thai society to be completed with the Seven Principles of Sappurisadhamma was found to be really desired by the society. They consist of (1) Dhammannuta, the knowledge of root causes of the phenomena or situations and analysis thereof
(2) Atthannuta, the knowledge of the results or outcomes of such and such related causes
(3) Attannuta, the knowledge of one own self in the aspects of knowledge, competence and virtues
(4) Mattannuta, the knowledge of moderation in living one's life, not too much nor too little, but in a moderate degree
(5) Kalannuta, the knowledge of time or in other words, time management, that results in the effective consumption of time
(6) Parisannuta, the knowledge of community or assembly of people that helps deal with them appropriately and cordially
and (7) Puggaloparannuta, the knowledge of individual persons or in other words, the individual difference, to the extent that such person is good or evil, and he is either associable or non-associable.
