Abstract
The purpose of this classroom-based research study is to investigatestudents'reactions to the different forms of feedback, namely, feedbackon language and feedback on content, while revising drafts of theirwriting. Teacher feedback through footnoteds based on superscript numbers was used as a means of helping the students to make revisions. The experiment was carried out with M.4/3 students,24 boys and 24 girls from Bangpakokwittayakom School. Four student were randomlyselected as subjects. The instruments used for the data collection inthis study were the drafts and revised versions, and the semi-structured interview. In order to answer the research question concerning how the students react to different forms of feedback, the resercher assigned the students to complete three written tasks. Then, she gave them different forms of feedback on their drafts of different tasks. Lastly, they studied the given feedback and completed the revisedversions. The findings of this research study reveal that teacher feedback iseffective in helping students to correct their writing. Specifically, feedback on both language and content led to improvements in students'writing and there were few real differences in the effects of language and content feedback. In addition, focusing on more specificcategories of feedback, the students successfully revised their writingconcerning spelling and grammar. However, they were less successful regarding syntax. Suggestions and implications concerning these findings are give.
