今日、学習者の多くがインターネットを利用し、日常的にアニメやドラマなどの日本のコンテンツに触れている。そして、コンテンツを観ることはただの娯楽だけでなく、日本語学習にも効果的であると考えている学習者も多い。また、映像作品がより容易に入手できるようになったことで、教室でアニメやドラマなどの映像素材を教材として利用することが教師たちに対しても推奨されてきた。しかし、それらを教材として選ぶ際、教師は作品のおもしろさや学習項目に沿った内容かどうかという教師目線のみで映像素材を選び、学習者たちがどのようなものを望んでいるのかという点を見落としてしまうことがある。本稿は日本語学習者であるタイ人大学生を例に取り、彼らがどのように日本のコンテンツと接しているのか、また、どの程度の関心を示しているのかという点を、教師が把握することの必要性について考える。また、学生たちが様々なジャンルのコンテンツをどの程度認識しているのかという点についても調査結果を示し、考察する。
Today, large numbers of learners use the internet to watch Japanese video content such as anime and drama on a daily basis. Many learners watch this content not only as entertainment but also as a medium of learning language. The use of video content such as anime and drama in language teaching has often been recommended for teachers since media materials are obtained conveniently. Media materials may be chosen from the teacher's point of view by considering the quality of the content or the suitability for classroom use. However, teachers tend to overlook the point that materials should also be selected according to what learners want. This paper takes up the case of Thai university students who learn Japanese and discusses the importance for teachers to know how learners approach Japanese content and to what extent they are concerned with this content. The paper also examines to what degree Thai university students recognize a variety of genres of video content according to the result of the survey.
