This study aims to study the roles of Buddhist monks in Buddha’s lifetime, study the roles of Phra Dhammavisudhimongkon (Bua Ñāṇasampanno) in Thai Society and analyse the roles of Phra Dhammavisudhimongkon (Bua Ñāṇasampanno) in Thai Society. The results of research were found that the roles of Buddhist monks in Buddha’s lifetime reflected the roles of Lord Buddha in providing aid to the world in 4 aspects, namely, role in Dhamma propagation, role in politics and governments, role in economic and role in society. Lord Buddha was a role model in helping the world to his disciples as it was apparent from the roles of 10 Buddhist saints. As for Phra Dhammavisudhimongkon (Bua Ñāṇasampanno) in Thai Society, his roles were apparent in 4 aspects as well, namely, 1) role in Dhamma propagation which are (1) teaching to do good (2) teaching to abstain from bad (3) teaching to help country (4) setting himself a good example for inheritance of Buddhism, 2) role in politics and governments which are (1) role of leader to save the country (2) role toward the country leader or government (3) role of Venerable Father toward citizen, his role in economic are (1) role as leader who solved the economic problems (2) role in teaching Dhamma to people to know how to spend money (3) role in teaching consumption principles to people, 3) role in society which are (1) role as a leader of society (2) role in suggesting to confront the problems (3) role in mental cultivation (4) role in reminding to be mindful (5) role in providing aid to the world. From analysis of Phra Dhammavisudhimongkon (Bua Ñāṇasampanno)’s role in context of Thai Society, it was found that the roles of the Venerable Father were in accord with and differed from the roles of monks in Buddha’s lifetime, that caused the role of Venerable Father in social context was criticized in Thai society. In addition, the study results demonstrated overall roles of Venerable Father Maha Bua toward Thai society which are good examples of roles of Buddhist monks in helping, aiding, assisting Thai society.
