This research deals with tonal variation in Chiang Mai Thai emphasizing tones in connected speech in comparison with tones in citation forms. The three linguistic variables investigated are the high-level falling tone, the mid rising tone in short... obtained through interviews. This research studies the pronunciation of English fricatives in syllable final position as produced by M.6 students at Nonsi Wittaya school. The study focuses on the target sounds/f, v, θ. d, s, z, S. 3/in citation form and careful speech... and female students combined is 33.54%. For each target sound, there are different phonetic forms incorrectly produced by the students. The frequency of occurrences of these variants may be accounted for by contrasting phonetic features with those

studied in this research are fundamental frequency, intensity and duration. The data was collected from three tracheoesophageal speakers and three normal speakers.The uttterances are 80 citation forms of words,which were analyzed and processed by computer
