dc.description.abstractThe objectives of this research were (1) to study concept and theory of improving the quality of Buddhist life by teaching in Theravada Buddhist philosophy, (2) to study the teaching in Theravada Buddhist philosophy and (3) to analyze the improving the quality of Buddhist life by teaching in Theravada Buddhist philosophy. This research is a qualitative research emphasizing on documentary research, collecting information from documents. The primary source is Tipitaka and the secondary sources consist of textbooks, documents. The results of research were as follows 1) The concept and theory of improving human's quality and society is based on the improve. The improving the quality of life is significant for both individual and society as it is created by human beings and is for human beings. However, in terms of Theravada Buddhist philosophy, it is believed that to improve oneself to the highest objective need to be developed systematically. Persons need to improve individuals based on Dhamma to attain the good quality of life in case of both physical and mental aspects. 2) The principles of Dhamma to be used in improving the quality of life consist of Samajividhamma, Bhammavihara, Garavassadhamma, Sanggahavatthu 4 and Disa 6. Samajividhamma are qualities which make a family and a society well matched. Bhrammavihara are qualities of leaders of family and society (Metta, Karuna, Mudita and Upekkha), Garavassadhamma are virtues for a good household life, being sincere to adjust oneself into family life, being patient and tolerant and being sacrificial Kulajiratthitadhamma are reasons for lastingness of a wealthy family. Sangahavatthu 4 are virtues making for group integration and leadership. Disa 6 are the ways of classifying people into 6 groups - parents as the east or the direction in front, wife and children as the west or the direction behind, teachers as the south or the direction in the right, friends and companions as north or the direction in the left, servants and workmen as the nadir, monks as the zenith. Each groups of people has related duties and ways of practice. 3) The result of analysis of the improving the quality of life by Theravada Buddhist Philosophy can be summarized into two aspects. Firstly, the improving the quality of life by Theravada Buddhist Philosophy relates to the basic needs of life and the solution of the failure of modern theory. Lastly, the result of analysis of the improving the quality of life is the progress that arises based on the principle of development - physical development, sila or moral development and wisdom development. This way is considered as the improving of the quality of life by Buddhist Theravada philosophy.
