Les guillemets (« ») font partie des signes typographiques dont l’usage est très répandu et très varié en français. Lors d’une traduction du français vers le thaï, la conservation des guillemets est souvent possible notamment dans le cas des discours direct et des citations. Il existe néanmoins des cas qui nécessitent une interprétation particulière.Ce travail propose d’étudier, dans notre corpus, les différents emplois des guillemets en français et en thaï ainsi que la façon de transmettre ce que les guillemets apportent au texte lors d’une traductiondu français vers le thaï. Nous avons choisi d’analyser l’emploi des guillemets en français dans trois chapitres de l’ouvrage Sacrés Français ! Un Américain nous regarde de Ted STANGER (2003). Nous prendrons aussi des exemples complémentaires dans trois traductions publiées en thaï d’un même ouvrage : Le Petit Prince d’Antoine de Saint-Exupéry (première édition en France en 1946).
